Chicago Cubs 150th Anniversary 'Double Diamond' Uniform Jersey

The Chicago Cubs will celebrate their 150th anniversary during the 2026 season with a commemorative logo and jersey patch.

Cubs 150th Jersey

The patch features the Cubs' familiar red "C" with a red "150" inside the letter, where the team name usually sits. The patch is framed within two blue-and-white baseball diamonds (that's one diamond for every 75 years) with the years 1876 and 2026 arched above and below on blue ribbons, flanked by six-pointed Chicago stars. This patch will be worn on the sleeve of all Cubs player jerseys throughout the 2026 season.

The Jersey patch was created to celebratethe Cubs' 150th year as a National League franchise. The design features two interlocking baseball diamonds, referencing the tradition thata 75th anniversary is known as a "diamond" anniversary - the two diamonds together represent 150 years. The patch also includes1876, the year the Cubs became a charter member of the league. The patch will appearon player jerseys during the 2026 season.

In addition to the jersey patch, the Cubs also unveiled a second logo to celebrate the anniversary. At the centre of this logo is the same element from the patch, that red "C" with the 150 inside, but this is instead presented on a blue and white circle with pinstripes. The C/150 design is outlined in gold in a style similar to the Cubs' logos used between 1941 and 1956. Arched above is the team name in white, below are the years 1876 and 2026 separated by a gold double diamond, and on either side is "NATIONAL LEAGUE" in gold. The typography used throughout this logo was inspired by lettering found in the original National League constitution and playing rules from 1876.

The gold pinstripes in the background of this logo are a clear nod to the Cubs' long history of wearing pinstriped uniforms, first appearing on the field during the 1907 World Series, becoming a regular-season fixture the following year. The darker navy blue used on the circle around the design goes back to when the Cubs used that as their primary shade of blue between 1911 and 1936.

Chicago has only worn a patch celebrating the anniversary of their franchise once before, fifty years ago, when they marked their centennial 100th anniversary season in 1976. They also wore patches to mark the 100th anniversary of their home ballpark, Wrigley Field, in 2014, as well as one in 2016 in honour of the 100th anniversary of the team's first season at the stadium. Now that's a team that knows when to celebrate an anniversary.
